Last month we took a trip to Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. In Kentucky, we toured the Kentucky Horse Park. Being the off-season not too many horses were out, but during a stable tour I took this photo of a calico cat. The backlighting highlighting her white fur was very nice. Too make sure the darkest shadows stayed black I started this drawing on black Stonehenge paper. To increase the constrasting light background, it was underpainted with white gouache (opaque watercolor) in several light layers. Drawing the rubber interlocking tiles on the stable floor was not easy. Perspective isn't a strong point with me. This drawing is being down in Derwent Drawing Pencils.
